The longevity research field is fragmented because the underlying biology is. Telomere maintenance, sirtuin signaling, mitochondrial biogenesis, autophagy, senescence — they're all longevity-adjacent and they all have separate molecular toolkits.


Epitalon is a 4-amino tetrapeptide derived from pineal extract. It is one of the very few molecules with published telomerase activation data in human peripheral blood lymphocytes. The Russian literature on it is unusually deep; the Western literature is still building. Most longevity research protocols using telomere endpoints use Epitalon as their starting point.

NAD+ is the central redox cofactor in cellular energetics. It is not a peptide — it's a dinucleotide — but it sits in this lane because the longevity research overlap with sirtuins and mitochondrial biogenesis is dense. Subcutaneous administration produces meaningfully different bioavailability than oral precursors like NMN or NR.

What does Epitalon actually do at the molecular level?

It up-regulates telomerase activity in published research, which extends telomere length over time. The mechanism is not fully characterized — the Russian literature has the deepest record and the Western literature is still building.

Why subcutaneous NAD+ instead of oral NMN or NR?

Subcutaneous NAD+ bypasses the gut conversion step and reaches systemic circulation directly. Bioavailability is meaningfully higher than oral precursors. Both routes have published research support; choose to match your reference literature.

Is NAD+ a peptide?

No — it's a dinucleotide cofactor. It sits in the longevity lane because the research overlap with peptide longevity work is dense (sirtuins, mitochondrial biogenesis), but mechanistically it's a different class of molecule.

What's the typical longevity protocol length?
